When Marc was at Clark University, a reporter for Worcester Magazine stopped him on the street. Would he weigh in on whether Richard Nixon had gone to hell?
This event has four notable aspects:
- the fortuitousness of encountering a reporter named “J.P. ‘Nattering Nabob of Negativism’ Langlands”;
- Marc envisaging a “weird space neither you nor I can imagine”;
- Marc inflicting Kurt Cobain’s guitar riffs on Richard Nixon as an infernal punishment; and
- Marc’s bothering to write in — after the initial publication of his response — to clarify his point of view.
Marc took humor seriously, and his brand of humor had a serious lilt.
