Children of Chiang-mai is an orphanage in Thailand run by Chris Gold. Chris has been a dear friend of Marc’s and Sabina’s since 2008. That January Chris and Sabina worked together on a Smith Alumnae Tour to Vietnam. (See the testimony from Chris upon Marc’s passing.)
Chris has run Children of Chiang-mai since 1996. He provides each boy with a safe and loving home. From that home, Chris ensures that each child receive an education to help him reach his full potential.
Over the years more than 30 boys have lived in Chris’s home. He currently has 13 charges ranging from age 5 to age 28.
On the side, Chris regularly led tours around Southeast Asia in order to earn money for Children of Chiang-mai. COVID largely ended (or at least suspended) the tours. So donations are particularly welcome.
In addition to household, medical and local educational expenses, Chris raises funds to help pay college tuition for the boys. Some pursue further education in England or elsewhere.
