I’m lucky in that I had lunch with Marc last Fall where we caught up. It had been a long 5 years since we had touched base; I’m mourning the opportunity to see him again this fall. My Smith will never be the same. He was my Smith touchstone and my academic anchor.

Marc was always invested in those he loved and he loved so many of us. My heart is broken to know that future generations will miss the opportunity to enjoy his intelligence, indulge in his quirkiness and witness his gentleness. He was like a gentle warrior who never lost sight of what it meant to be human. He truly was one of Smith’s greatest assets in the world of me.
