When I joined the Department, I was in the midst of the end of my marriage and beginning the divorce and single-mothering journey. All this while an ABD Visiting Lecturer and then on the tenure track. Marc consistently offered his empathetic support for me not only as a colleague, but as a human being. He confirmed time and again that my department was exceptional, not only in terms of the professional accomplishments of my colleagues, but in terms of their humanity, which Marc exemplified.
